Boehringer Ingelheim Merit Dairy Sire programme

Dairy Merit Sire criteria uses the Dairy Beef Index and 400DW, as opposed to 600DW, to reflect the increased demand for quick finishing dairy beef animals.
The Sires which receive the award all display low birthweight, ease of calving, and optimum growth, making them a reliable choice to use as follow up bulls siring saleable progeny.
The criteria for the 2024 analysis of the program, is as follows:
- Birth Weight EBV - in top 10%
- 400 Day Weight EBV - in top 60%
- Dairy Beef Index – in top 20%
- Birth Weight EBV – maximum of +3.0 for dam and sire
- EBV accuracy - minimum of 70% for the bull
- EBV accuracy – minimum of 75% for both dam and sire
